Globe (Philippine Telecommunications Company)

Globe is the mobile division of Globe Telecom, the largest telecommunications company in the Philippines. At present, Globe is the largest service provider in the Philippines, with a subscriber base of 65.5 million subscribers as of October 2015.

Services

Globe offers different levels of service, dependent on both the population and the financial capability of the subscriber. A list is provided below:

Globe (tabloid)

Globe is a supermarket tabloid first published North America on November 10, 1954 in Montreal, Canada as Midnight by Joe Azaria and John Vader and became the chief competitor to the National Enquirer during the 1960s. In 1978 it changed its name to the Midnight Globe after its publisher, Globe Communications, and eventually changed its name to Globe. The newspaper, as well as most of its rivals, is now owned by American Media Inc. and is published out of American Media's headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida. Globe covers a widespread range of topics, including politics, celebrity news, human interest and high-profile crime stories. It recently led the fight to try to save TV's All My Children and One Life to Live.

History

In mid-November 1995, Globe caused controversy by publishing Tejana singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez's autopsy photos, causing retailers in her home region of South Texas to pull and dispose of that edition of the tabloid. The same pulling occurred in Boulder, Colorado in 1997, when autopsy photos of JonBenét Ramsey were published in the tabloid, though one local retailer retained stock of that edition.

Globe (Sacramento RT)

Globe is an island platformed Sacramento RT light rail station in Sacramento, California, United States. The station was opened on March 12, 1987, and is operated by the Sacramento Regional Transit District as part of the Blue Line. It is located in the median of Del Paso Boulevard at Globe Avenue. The station serves an area of office parks and light industry. It is the first station beyond the fare-free downtown zone.

Campaign (book)

Campaign is a coffee table book by Shia LaBeouf and Karolyn Pho which is attached to the project that accompanies Marilyn Manson's eighth album, Born Villain. It was released on August 28, 2011 by LaBeouf's Grassy Slope Entertainment production company through various retailers.

The book, accompanied by a short film DVD, is a visual accompaniment to Marilyn Manson and LaBeouf's Born Villain joint project. It is a collection of photographs taken by LaBeouf and his girlfriend, Karolyn Pho, of posters they put up to promote Born Villain, retracing the steps of a night LaBeouf spent traversing Los Angeles with Manson.

The book was made available for pre-order on August 28, 2011, preceding the screening of the Born Villain short film at L.A. Silent Theatre. By ordering the book, purchasers gained entry to a book signing event followed by private screening of Born Villain at 10pm of September 1, 2011, at Hennessey + Ingalls outlet in Hollywood.

Reception

While some fans' reaction to the book has been negative, the book got good reviews, and the video, Born Villain, has a good rating on IMDB.

Military campaign

In the military sciences, the term military campaign applies to large scale, long duration, significant military strategy plan incorporating a series of inter-related military operations or battles forming a distinct part of a larger conflict often called a war. The term derives from the plain of Campania, a place of annual wartime operations by the armies of the Roman Republic.

Definition

1.A military campaign denotes the time during which a given military force conducts combat operations in a given area (often referred to as AO, area of operation). A military campaign may be executed by either a single Armed Service, or as a combined services campaign conducted by land, naval, air, cyber and space forces.

2.The purpose of a military campaign is to achieve a particular desired resolution of a military conflict as its strategic goal. This is constrained by resources, geography and/or season. A campaign is measured relative to the technology used by the belligerents to achieve goals, and while in the pre-industrial Europe was understood to be that between the planting (late spring) and harvest times (late autumn), it has been shortened during the post-industrial period to a few weeks. However, due to the nature of campaign goals, usually campaigns last several months, or even a year as defined by Trevor N. Dupuy.

Campaign (video game)

Campaign is a strategy war game developed and pusblished by Empire Interactive. It was released in 1992 for DOS and in 1993 for the Amiga and Atari ST.

The game is set in World War II. The player may play out scenarios like the Battle of the Bulge and D-Day. Apart from the strategic map, a battle mode will be opened if two hostile forces venture too near each other.

The military units are rendered well in this game, and it includes a 170-page-long equipment manual which also serves as the Game's copy protection. It also includes a map editor to create scenarios or modify parts of the game.

It was followed by a sequel, Campaign II.

Reception

Computer Gaming World said of Campaign, "the finished product leaves much to be desired". Criticisms included the difficulty of organizing concentrated attacks, the unrealistically high frequency of night combat, the inability to retreat, and the absence of a way to exit the game or even use Ctrl-Alt-Delete. A 1993 survey in the magazine of wargames gave the game two-plus stars out of five, stating that "it is adequate on the [strategic] level and almost an arcade rendition of the [tactical]".
